Sheringham Viking Festival 2019

The Sheringham Viking Festival has been one of my favourite events in the Sheringham calendar and this year was better than ever.

Family Activities

This year the team at the Mo (Sheringham Museum) put on a fantastic week of family activities including shield, axe, longboat and pendant making. The kids and adults had a great time and some even spent some time with local fisherman Jimmy, exploring the ancient Norse art of rune reading.

Living Viking Village

This year we also had a living, breathing Viking village and battle on the Leas that set the scene for the later battle on the beach.

Battle on the Beach

Two Viking armies faced off against each other as our protectors went to battle with the invaders in an attempt to secure the rights to call Sheringham their home.

Fire Display and Boat Burning

This year the crowds gathered ready for the boat burning had a real treat as they watch an epic fire display.

The longboat arrived with the honour guard and was set in place ready to be sacrificed to the gods.
